Show 105: Arts and Craft Beer

Show 104: Holiday Road

So, Beer Dad Paul is still on vacation (at time of this recording) and Stacy Verner sits in, once again with Beer Dads Jon and Tim. Stacy is an awesome guest, as usual and we’re always glad to have her. Since Paul is on vacation, we decided to talk about our vacations. Not necessarily those with our kids but perhaps some of the trips we took when we were kids ourselves. The good ones, the bad ones, the many, the few… you get the picture.

The show was recorded in the new Test Pattern Studios. Test Pattern is located at 701 N Trade Street in good ol’ WSNC. Check out the Test Pattern page for more on their happenings.

Show 103: Awkward S**t

Stacy with Beer Dad Tim and a growler from the awesome folks at The Beer Growler Winston-Salem

Beer Dad Paul is on vacation (at the time of the recording) and we have our most frequent guest, Stacy Verner, in the studio to talk about all kinds of awkwardness including what the title implies. It’s an awkward kind of show, really. Not Stacy, she’s always awesome. Just the show and its contents. So, know that it’s a bit graphic at times. Not, dirty, that’s silly, but the subject matter. Sometimes it’s crap, really.

Not only did Stacy come to help us with the hosting, she came bearing gifts! She brought with her a libations treat from the fine folks over at The Beer Growler WS located at 3424 Robinhood Road in WSNC and on FacebookTwitter and Instagram. They sell Hoots over there so make sure you try one of those, too! We thank The Beer Growler and Stacy for that!

The show was recorded in the new Test Pattern Studios. Test Pattern is located at 701 N Trade Street in good ol’ WSNC. Check out the Test Pattern page for more on their happenings.

Show 102: Home Near Disasters

A broken shower, a crack in the foundation, a leaky roof, a fire in the garage, a tree in the yard. All examples of home disasters that can leave you in a bind and leave you broke. Obviously things happen and while many things can be done as preventative maintenance, some tings just hit you out of the blue. Do you fix it yourself or do you hire someone? It’s how we handle it and prepare for it that is the important part (at least after the incident).

The show was recorded in the new Test Pattern Studios. Test Pattern is located at 701 N Trade Street in good ol’ WSNC. Check out the Test Pattern page for more on their happenings.

Show 100: Real Men Do What?

Here we are! Show #100! Seems like just yesterday we were doing #1 or even #10. It’s been a long road we’ve traveled together and we’re looking forward to several hundred more.

For our 100th show, we have a very special guest. He started out as just a “superfan” for The Less Desirables. In fact, TLD calls him “Superfan Damien.” He’s Mr. Damien Paris and he’s also a big fan of our show (at least he acts like it). He sits in while we talk about our latest topic. A few weeks back a new billboard went up on Business 40 in Kernersville and it has set some folks off. The billboard reads: “Real Men Provide. Real Women Appreciate It.” Rumors abound about who it was that put it up, what their intention was. Some say we’re heading back to the 50s with that or there’s new thoughts that it was a group of fathers that pay child support but their exes or the mothers of the children don’t allow the men to see their kids. We haven’t heard for sure what the deal is, but upon that first day we heard about it, we had to discuss it. It now reads another jab at people who are protesting or complaining about it. We don’t harp on that sign per se, but we discuss the concept of what we perceived it to be in our everyday lives. Damien chimes in a good bit, too. We like that.

The show was recorded in the new Test Pattern Studios. Test Pattern is located at 701 N Trade Street in good ol’ WSNC. Check out the Test Pattern page for more on their happenings.

The Beer Dads’ beer of the week is Golden Ale by Triangle Brewing (where TLD first met Damien).

Show 99: Class Not Ass

Things don’t always go our way. We are sometimes indifferent, but sometimes really, really perturbed. And, that’s fine. We’re allowed. But, it’s how we react when those things don’t go our way, or heck, the way we act when things do go our way, that defines us. So, do we show class? Or are we just an ass? The choice is yours. The Dads talk about this very thing this episode.

The show was recorded in the new Test Pattern Studios. Test Pattern is located at 701 N Trade Street in good ol’ WSNC. Check out the Test Pattern page for more on their happenings.

Show 98: Life Changing Event

We’ve talked about this before, but we revisit it after some real-life updates. While we talk about many life-changing things, we talk about deaths of loved ones probably more than anything else, in this episode. We’re just gonna leave it at that.

Conceptual road sign indicating an upcoming life changing event ahead – with clipping path

The show was recorded in the new Test Pattern Studios. Test Pattern is located at 701 N Trade Street in good ol’ WSNC. Check out the Test Pattern page for more on their happenings.

Show 97: Tackling the Sportsball

The Super Bowl just ended. A brutal year in a brutal sport that left some with bad injuries. Some to the legs, arms and ribs. Others, to the brain. Football is a dangerous and gruesome sport; yet we love it. The Beer Dads are no exception. But, what happens when YOUR kid wants to play it? Do you let them? Do you discourage them? Do you watch over them like a hawk? Or do you let them decide for themselves? Do you risk them getting injured or worse? That’s what we “tackle” this week.

The show was recorded in the new Test Pattern Studios. Test Pattern is located at 701 N Trade Street in good ol’ WSNC. Check out the Test Pattern page for more on their happenings.

Show 96: 50 on the Road

We only turn 50 once and the second of us did this month, Beer Dad Paul. The Beer Dads along with our Pilots and some of our past guests (and great friends) decided to do a beer crawl to celebrate that milestone. We visited Juggheads, a favorite of Beer Dad Paul, Small Batch Beer Company (where this whole podcast was hatched), Finnigan’s Wake (the Official Emerald Isle of The Less Desirables), the brand new Wise Man Brewing and finished off the night with our presenting sponsor, Hoots Roller Bar & Beer Company!

It was a great, fun night, complete with designated drivers and Beer Dad Tim carried around a portable recorder to capture some of the fun. What we did this week was compile a few of the highlights (or lowlights, possibly) and play them for you. We’re just giving you an idea of the fun we have together. There’s no official beer of the week but there was plenty of beer drunk that evening. So, enjoy listening to our drunken debauchery.

The show was partially recorded in the new Test Pattern Studios. Test Pattern is located at 701 N Trade Street in good ol’ WSNC. Check out the Test Pattern page for more on their happenings.
